..making myself sad to animate..

I have been making myself sad at work for these series of shots that I have to animate. Its amazing what you can pull from your past to make yourself sad for acting. I feel a little guilty using sad moments in life for a movie. Something in the back of my mind says its wrong..not sure. Thinking about deceased family ..etc...to make my performance look good...what do you think?

I think it is okay... to making a sincere performance. You're tapping into feelings to share an experience and hopefully evoke feeling from the audience. My 2 cents. Cool Blog.

If you didnt pull from personal experiences to tell a story, none of it would have any life to it. Thats the true nature of the artist. one who can draw from personal experiences to express him/herself creatively.

you on the rigth track.

Just dont think about any bad strip club experiences. that's never good. lol.

Hey man, it's your experiences and how you reinterpret them that makes your art special-- it might feel strange, but your not doing anything morally wrong. pull that thing out of you that will make the shots really special!

Hi Jamaal,
It's only necessary, as Lawrence Olivier once said, to "act".

You shouldn't try to act out too much animation, especially if you have characters jumping into fire, et cetera...
