..making myself sad to animate..

I have been making myself sad at work for these series of shots that I have to animate. Its amazing what you can pull from your past to make yourself sad for acting. I feel a little guilty using sad moments in life for a movie. Something in the back of my mind says its wrong..not sure. Thinking about deceased family ..etc...to make my performance look good...what do you think?

Redneck Rider!

well..I decided to start a series of Good Ol' Boy drawings. These will take a while since I am animating at work..animating at home. These drawings will be a release from the computer. Even though I draw out my shots (even at home on my personal work)...I miss drawing like I used to so this is a way for me to have fun. This has been colored but I am exploring new coloring techniques..so it may be some time before I post the colored version...anyone reading this...I doubt it......grind until the wheels fall off!!!!

testing.. testing...

thought I try something different with the prismacolor markers. I know I want to play around with these more on future projects. The markers are expensive as hell....well all art supplies are. Citrus head is what i called this guy!

..story ideas..

these drawings are from a story idea I had. I may go back to it sooner or later, but for now I have to complete this short. I am guessing I will stop animating on the computer when I finish it and dust off my animation desk!!!! What a glorious time that will be.

what the heck have you been doing???

well...I am not the best poster on these blogs, but I have been storyboarding my butt off between working on the movie. Even though I enjoy animating on feature films there is something about creating your own work. It is a little more rewarding I think. It comes from your soul and you make it breath. I have been working on my short for a while and I will continue to do so. I want to say thank you to Ricardo, Greg, Pao, and Eric. You guys have given me some good support and everything is coming together nicely. These are just two boards from the many. There is one inbetween these two. He is picking up something, but I will save what it is for the finished product. NO!!! not more talking animals... Be assured that these boys are not talking and this has been in the making WAAAY before this damn explosion of CG animals. All the acting is going to be done through body expressions and gestures. I will post the BG test that Eric Lee is doing as soon as he is done.

long time no post.....

man..no one looks at this thing anyway, but I have been busy as I can be. Working on Surf's Up stuff and something for another movie that has not been announced yet, but it should be cool. I am still working on my film as well. The storyboards are almost done..but I am sure I will revise many of them once the animatic is cut together. Oh well...more surprises to come in the future.

Study and Ideas

So since I have been at Sony I have been working with a lot of good people. My supervisor on the last project was always telling me about making the poses and facial expressions appealing. I also found myself trying to make my fingers and hand poses unique and appealing. These are a few studies of the hands that I was doing during some playblasts...looking at my own hands (there are some on the previous post as well). Seeing what they do when pressed ..bent funny..etc. The other sketches are just ideas ..playing around.

What to do when the playblast is running??

Here are a few sketches that I have created during my playblast time. Since the "character" I am animating has 48000 controls, it goes on and on and on.... I am enjoying it though. I decided to get dive back stronger into what got me to animation...drawing.

Artwork??

I will be posting some work soon....
